Acceptance to GMS

If you have received an acceptance letter or email from Global Media Studies Magnet offering you a spot in our program, welcome to our family! We are excited to have you and your child join our unique learning community. In order for your child to attend our school, you must do the following:

Step 1 (Confirm or Decline Acceptance)

Contact our Magnet Coordinator at cdb9212@lausd.net or (818) 885-2338 to accept or decline your child’s seat in our program. The deadline to ACCEPT OR DECLINE is three days following your invitation!

Step 2 (Submit an Enrollment Packet)

Enrollment forms are available in English and Spanish (see below). Enrollment documents in most cases can be uploaded directly to LAUSD by clicking here. If your child is coming from outside of LAUSD, our school may not show up as a choice for you during this process, even if you have been accepted to GMS Magnet. In that case, you will need to print the documents and return the completed forms to our Attendance Office. The Attendance Office can also give you a paper enrollment packet for in-person pickup. Please call (818) 885-2300 if you have questions about enrollment documents.

Please download and complete these fillable PDFs and bring them in to Cleveland High School’s Attendance Office during regular school hours. All incoming students need current, up-to-date vaccination records. If your child has an IEP or 504, please bring us a copy with the completed Enrollment Packet. If your child is new to LAUSD, additional forms may be required. The deadline to do this is a week following your invitation!

STEP 3 (Program Your Classes)

CLASSES: If your child did not see our counselors at their middle school or at a session held at Cleveland, a counselor will program your child once they are enrolled by the Attendance Office in our computer system.

STEP 4 (Finalize Transportation)

If you qualify for transportation (you must live outside a five-mile radius of the school), the LAUSD Transportation Office will contact you beginning August 1st regarding drop-off and pick-up locations and times. (The Magnet Coordinator can make new transportation requests for students who are already enrolled and in our school's computer system.) For inquiries, contact the Transportation Office at (818) 709-5697 at the beginning of August. To check if your address qualifies, please click here.

If you have any questions, or need assistance, please contact Magnet Coordinator Coleen Bondy at cdb9212@lausd.net.
